Mak, Mom, Mummy, Mother, Ma

However they are called, it all means 1 thing: They gave us Life.

Yes, tomorrow is a special day…and this year it will be very different because Mom is away from the family…

It’s just her and my lil bro in Sibu while Dad, my younger bro and I are here. 🙁

So, this is for my one-and-only Mom, to my dear sis-in-law and to all the Mothers out there:

This is a truly BEAUTIFUL piece.

Please read this at a slow pace, digesting every word and in
leisure…do not hurry….this is indeed a treasure:

For those lucky enough to still be blessed with your Mom,
this is beautiful. For those of us who aren’t, this is
even more beautiful. For those who are moms, you’ll love this.

The young mother set her foot on the path of life. “Is
this the long way?” she asked.   And the guide said:  “Yes, and the way is hard.
And you will be old before you reach the end of it.. But
the end  will be better than the beginning.”

But the young mother was happy, and she would not
believe that  anything could be better than these years. So she
played with her children, and gathered flowers for
them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and
the sun shone on them, and the young mother cried,
“Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.”

Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was
dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother
drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said,
“Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.”

And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and
the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary.
But at all times she said to the children,” A little  patience and we are there.”
So the children climbed, and when they reached the top
they said, “Mother, we could not have done it without you.”

And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up
at the stars and said, “This is a better day than the last, for my
children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage.
Today, I ‘ve given them strength.”

And with the next day came strange clouds which darkened
the earth, clouds of war and hate and evil; the children groped
and stumbled, and the mother said: “Look up. Lift your eyes to the Light.

” And the children looked and saw above the clouds
an everlasting Glory, and It guided them beyond the
darkness. And that night the mother said,
“This is the best day of all, for
I have shown my children God.”

And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and
the years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent.
But her children were tall and strong, and walked with
courage.  And when the way was rough, they lifted her,
for she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill,
and beyond they could see a Shining Road and Golden Gates flung wide. And
mother said, “I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end
is better than the beginning, for my children can
walk alone, and their children after them.”

And the children said, “You will always walk with us,
Mother, even when you have gone through the Gates.”
And they stood  and  watched her as she went on alone, and the Gates
closed after her.  And they said: “We cannot see her
but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory.

She is a living presence…. …”

Your Mother is always with you…. she’s the whisper
of the leaves as you walk down the street; she’s the smell of bleach
in your freshly laundered socks; she’s the cool hand
on your brow when you’re not well. Your Mother lives
inside your laughter. And she’s crystallized in every tear drop.
She’s the place you came from, your first home; and
she’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love
and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can
separate you.

Not time, not space… Not  even death!

Pass it on to the men too because they have mothers too….

P.S.- Thanks for sharing that Fr Canty. 🙂

P.P.S Remember my dilemma a couple of weeks ago? Well, I finally made a decision and I got myself another one.

For those who want to share in that journey with me, you are more than welcome to share your thoughts! 😀

Another one?

Dear readers,

I’ve been thinking about this, but haven’t yet decided.

You should already know that this blog was never inclined towards anything in particular – not politics, not food, not anything. This is just my personal blog…but three weeks ago, my life took a turn (and a very good one) and there are sometimes moments where I wanna write more on that here but I don’t wanna make any of my readers “uncomfortable”. I know that this blog is mine and I can write whatever I want but just the notion that I might possibly offend the few friends I made through all my years of blogging is just too scary for me.

On the contrary, I am afraid that if I don’t share those moments here, I am not being faithful to myself. I mean, you can’t compartmentalize your life! One is made up of many things – their past, their surroundings, the people around them, their beliefs, their opinions, their faith…everything. Am I making sense? And there is also the chance that if I have more than one blog, I will be so undecided which posts should go to which blog that I might actually post the same thing on both blogs, or worse, not update both the blogs at all! – speaking from experience of having had more than one blog at a time.

Guess what I am asking is

Should I start another blog?

P.S. Now that that’s off the chest, I can get back to my regularly scheduled posts. 🙂

What's in a name?

This two scenarios really happened:
(Me meeting up with some bloggers IN PERSON for the first time)
Scenario 1
Blogger/Reader 1: “You had three other blogs before right?”
Me: “Yea. I think you commented on one of them before…My Practical Blog?”
Blogger/Reader 1: “Yea, Top Apple.”
Me: “No…”
Blogger/Reader 2: “No lah, it was Diary of a Practitioner.”
Scenario 2:
Me: “Hi. I’m Mar.”
Blogger/Reader 3: “Yea, you’re Super Soaker.”
From my recent meet-ups with bloggers IN PERSON, I just noticed that readers relate to the NAME of the blog more than the URL…(They also tend to relate more to the posts’ contents sometimes. But no one related to URLs…hmm…)
For those who didn’t already know, before this blog, I had 3 other blogs…
My Friendster Blog []
My Practical Blog []
My Blogspot Blog []
And with each blog I had trouble coming up with the right name…
My Friendster Blog was first called “My Whatever”…I think…and then a lot of name changes until it settled with the name which I used as the name of My Blogspot Blog at the time, that is The Top Apple – a name which finally stuck…for both blogs.
My Practical Blog began and stayed as Diary of a Practitioner since I was really clear on what I would be blogging in that blog…
But in this fourth blog of mine…I’ve yet to find the prefect name….
I’ve been switching between names for this blog since I “opened shop” last month…at the moment the name’s been changed twice…
So for the time being, I’ll just use the URL as the name…
Any suggestions guys?

Anyways, just wanted to let you guys know that my “About” page is FINALLY up…hehe…its there on the sidebar on the right…
Took me the wee-hours of today (1am-4am) to get it done…
But, YES…it is complete…and I shall take a rest from blogging for today. ;p

Newbie. Me?

Working life…
So far, its tiring for sure…but an interesting experience and quite invaluable (and I’ve just been working for 4 days!)
Day 1: Newbie(s)
Arrived punctually, got assigned to my “place” in the office and was supplied with stationery and all the admin thingy – staff info, docs, etc. I tried to get a general picture of what I’d actually be doing in this job by asking questions and observing the others…
Apparently I wasn’t the only newbie. There was another girl with me. Only difference is, she had “previous experience”, I didn’t. Being newbies, the two of us “hooked up” for lunch.
After lunch, started my 1st lesson: Vouching. (For those with non-accounting background, that means to check whether the client’s, i.e the company being audited, information stated in their accounts matched what actually happened by digging up receipts of any docs that prove that that transaction really happened.)
Day 2: Still new
Again, did vouching the whole day but this time it’s to vouch client’s inventory, debtors and creditors. (Yesterday was vouching expenses) During lunch, the other newbie (let’s call her D) went to the nearest company bank to open our “staff” bank account.
Day 3: Made a new “acquaintance”
Didn’t go out for lunch cos I brought some sandwiches from home. But after lunch,I had my first stock-take (count client inventory) with a senior colleague (let’s call her J). And guess where the stock-take was…
A pig farm.
Yup, “YB turun padang”…hehe…but we didn’t count the “livestock” laa…just the other non-living stock (pig feed, medicine(didn’t know they had that!), office supplies, etc.). And throughout the “assignment”, got to know J a lil better. Oh yes, she dropped me back home after we were done too.
Day 4: Oh. So. Tired.
Yes people…tiring job but I don’t mind (much) cos it’s quite interesting. But then again, starting from scratch, EVERYTHING and EVERYDAY is a new experience. Hehe. But I am quite relieved that tomorrow (Good Friday!) I can rest (and go Mass of course.) BTW,I’m working this Saturday though.
There, just a recap of my worklife so far. Now, on a more personal note:
As you guys can see, this blog isn’t fully operational (yet)…I’m still “building up” the blog, piece by piece. One “piece” in particular is my “About” page…
See…I don’t really know what to put in it…(I’m not vain maa..hehe)…so,why dontcha guys help me out?
Just post some questions/anything you guys wanna know about yours truly and I’ll put the answers up in the “About” page…how’s that sound?
Personally,I think that’ll be best cos after what Arch asked me that day,I find that people can ask questions that you never saw coming! Hehe…
